Pastor's Letter
Dear Honeyridge Family, Happy New year! … or at least that is how the saying goes. Is it a statement? Is it a wish? Is it a declaration of hope? Who would have thought last year this time what 2020 would hold, and yet looking back I doubt many would categorize it as a “Happy” year! But as Christians, we are reminded in Matthew 5 of what brings True Happiness or True Blessedness… Jesus says…
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. 11 “You are blessed when they insult you and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of Me. 12 Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
If we can keep these Priorities of Jesus in mind as we embark on 2021, we will quickly realize that our happiness this year has very little to do with the implementation of a Covid-19 Vaccination or the lifting of Lockdown restrictions or even the restoration of the economy… it has to do with seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, knowing that whatever our circumstances hold, we will find our true blessedness in our status as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven and our relationship with Jesus Christ. I certainly do pray that 2021 will be a year of great blessing and true happiness for us as the Lord’s people at Honeyridge as we put Jesus Christ and His kingdom first in everything. Your brother in Christ, Clinton. |

Calvin Harris was our Bible study leader and I wonder where the Bible study may have evolved to if it was not for a forced electronic connection. During this year Calvin left the Bible study due to his poor health. The Bible study was composed of families who joined from far off. The Rugers from Knysna, the de Bruins from Ghana, Norman Wiles from Qatar, Jonathan and Shannon Quick who if meeting with the others in a home, chose to isolate for their own health reasons, but were able to join electronically, plus two other families – who are local… the Worthingtons (leading the Bible study) and the Cuénods. Without technology our Bible study would, I guess, have dissolved. |
