Pastor's Letter

Dear Honeyridge Family,

Welcome to the first edition of the Buzzz in Level 3! The great news is that you can now read the Buzzz on your phone while taking a walk at any time of the day! … Assuming of course that your glasses are not all fogged up because you have to wear a face mask when you go out!!

But seriously though, we do have much to be thankful for as we continue to navigate this Covid-19 pandemic as a country and as a church. While meeting together as we used to may still seem some way off – let us lift our eyes with the Psalmist in Psalm 121 and ask the question… “Where will my help come from?”

His answer is quick in coming… The LORD is our helper! The LORD who made the heaven and earth is the helper and protector of His people. And then in vs 4 he reminds us… “Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber or sleep.”

One of my great comforts as a pastor during this time is this truth that the God who created our universe and everything in it… this God is our helper… our protector… and He is never caught off guard… never found sleeping so that the evil one can cause any trouble without God’s sovereign awareness and purposes.

While many people are getting caught up and confused with conspiracy theories of evil forces and world powers, we can rest in the fact that our God is still on the throne… That the prince of this world cannot lift a finger without God’s permission… and even though Satan’s efforts may appear for a season to succeed… that God is purposing a far greater outcome of good for His people and for His Glory.

Our prayer is that you will continue to remain encouraged in the Lord each day as you lift your eyes to the heavens, and seek the help of the one who never slumbers or sleeps.

Your brother in Christ,

Clinton.

The Abbotts

Dear Honeyridge Family,

We trust that you are well and that the Lord is keeping you in His perfect peace at this time of so much global upheaval and uncertainty. Thank you for your continued financial and prayer support which we appreciate and give praise to the Lord for daily. We praise the Lord for healing after we experienced some Covid-19 symptoms and are well on the mend.

Apart from being advised to self-isolate, the Moskona people have not been greatly affected by the present crisis. There is unhappiness at not being able to congregate as a church here in Bintuni but in the villages the Moskona continue to meet and fellowship around God’s Word on Sundays. All the pastors who attended the Discipleship Training in March, days before the pandemic was announced, have returned to their villages and we are praying that they are now putting what they have learnt into practice.

Andy is using this time of isolation to refine the Old Testament stories that were translated a few months ago and I have had all the time I need to complete the village Sunday School curriculum for a three year cycle.

We are thankful to be able to use this quiet period to refine teaching materials and prepare for classes as soon as we are allowed. Thank you again for all you have done to help give God’s message of love to the Moskona people. We constantly pray for the Lord’s blessing on your life.

With you in His service,

Andy & Debbie

Honeyridgers In Lockdown

Honeyridgers In Lockdown

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

I think the lock-down is not really working for me and it is not so cool that we have a time-limit  to go out and we can't have friends come over to our place and have them have a sleep-over which totally sucks cause it is so boring, other than that the Microsoft Teams is working quite well so yeah. Daniel Gombe Jnr (10)

Lockdown has been more of a "locked out" for me, unable to return home and feeling stranded out the country. I'm grateful that I've been housed, fed and able to walk around and still carry on with some work, but it’s not without its moments of frustration and disappointment at my plans and hopes failing and being disrupted. A lot of learning that God's plans are bigger than ours! Honeyridge online has been a huge benefit as I can now be a part of church more so than before the lockdown. Martin Conibear

This time of lockdown and the associated threat of the Coronavirus, loss of income and not being able to see people has made me see in a practical way how everything in this world is changing and futile. These trials are a grace to show us how our only hope is Christ and that His grace really is sufficient. Cornelia Gerrits
